Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns Has High Praise for UNC's Caleb Wilson

The rookie is already turning heads in Chicago.

Caleb Wilson has gotten his first taste of the NBA, and to say that the first couple of games of his career have not only been challenging but impressive would be an understatement.

Wilson has been able to play at this level while facing teams like the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, and Toronto Raptors, full of veteran talent, which shows he has the opportunity to become a superstar one day. Wilson continues to impress on both sides of the basketball, averaging 20.8 points and shooting 41.3% from the field.

There are still some concerns we saw at North Carolina, specifically his 22.2% three-point shooting, but he's showing a willingness to take them, and at 20, he has plenty of time to figure it out. There's obviously some hope he'll eventually do so, though again, there's no guarantee Wilson will ever develop that shot, so he'll have to keep working on other parts of his game.

One of those parts is finding open teammates.

When speaking about what he saw out of the young man, Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns had nothing but great words to say about him. However, the one interesting part was that he said that he's going to create a lot of gravity for his teammates, which should lead to open shots for guys on the Chicago Bulls.

“I told him he’s gonna be great,” said Towns, per The Athletic. “I watched his game from afar. I think he’s very talented. I’ve heard nothing but great things about him as a human being. … I know he’s a special player. I think Chicago is seeing that right now.”

Wilson understands that he's at the top of scouting reports for this Bulls team at the moment, especially with the lack of talent they have on both sides of the basketball and being as young as they are.

“I feel like I’ve put myself at the top of every scouting report of every team we’re going to play,” Wilson said. “Just knowing that, and knowing it’s going to attract a lot of gravity and get my teammates open, it’s something I had to learn to accept and be mature enough to make the right decision.”

Wilson is going to have to be the reason why Chicago finds the success that it's looking for over the next couple of years. It's going to take a lot to get the Bulls back to where they used to be, but with him leading the charge and already gaining this type of respect from others around the league, it's a very promising sign that things are going according to plan out in Chicago.
