North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick has been called out for taking a job in college.

The North Carolina Tar Heels were able to grab a massive win to open their new season, taking down TCU 15-10.

The Tar Heels got some revenge for the loss to the Horned Frogs a year ago, giving head coach Bill Belichick a nice start to his second year. Belichick, one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, shocked a lot of people by taking the North Carolina job before last season.

But he has been determined to build out this Tar Heels program in the best way possible. However, not everyone agreed with his decision to leave the NFL for college.

NFL analyst Rob Parker recently called out Belichick for the move on an episode of The Odd Couple podcast.

"I think Bill Belichick made the biggest, most colossal coaching blunder in the history of sports," Parker said.

"I really believe that. That he wasn't patient enough. The years that he's wasting at North Carolina, he could have been on television for a year and then there's all kinds of jobs that open up and you go in and you sell and be a part of it. Go in and get your 13-15 wins over two years and you become the winningest coach."

Parker wanted to see Belichick go after the top spot of being the most winning coach in NFL history. The legendary coach sits with 302 career wins, only 20 behind Don Shila for the most all-time.

If Belichick had stayed in the NFL, he may have been able to get close to the record, if not overtake it. But there is another side to this that Parker may not be considering: the NFL may have been done with Belichick.

There is a reason why Belichick went to college. This isn't to say that no team would have hired him, but his final few years with the New England Patriots were rough once Tom Brady left town.

New England missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, with there being real questions around his ability to coach without Brady. So while the move to North Carolina was a little questionable, the veteran coach is at least trying to build up this program.

Whether he succeeds remains to be seen, but Belichick is off to a good start in 2026. North Carolina now has a week off following the win against TCU before they host North Carolina State.
