Is Bill Belichick going to leave UNC and go back to the NFL?
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, UNC football head coach Bill Belichick is drawing interest from the NFL again.
Belichick's first season at UNC was a mess, but he still has fans in the NFL.
If Belichick chooses to pursue a general manager job, the Miami Dolphins have an opening after firing longtime GM Chris Grier earlier this season.
UNC went 4-8 this season under Belichick. The Tar Heels failed to qualify for a bowl game for the first time since 2018.
Belichick, of course, won six Super Bowls with Tom Brady on the New England Patriots. He's widely recognized as the greatest coach in NFL history.
UNC, though, didn't get any Belichick magic this season. They went 2-6 in conference play and averaged only 19.2 points per game on offense.
Belichick has stated many times that he's committed to North Carolina. It will be interesting to see if the Hall of Famer keeps his word.
After the New York Giants fired Brian Daboll, Belichick issued a statement saying he wasn't interested in taking the Giants job.
"I have great respect and genuinely care for the New York Giants organization and both the Mara and Tisch families," Belichick said in a statement. "The New York Giants played an important role in my life and in my coaching journey. It was a privilege for me to work for the Mara family and be a member of Coach Parcells' staff for over a decade.
"However, despite circulating rumors, I have not and will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies."
It's probably a good thing that Belichick isn't interesting in coaching the Giants. After all, the last thing New York needs is Jordon Hudson.
