North Carolina Tar Heels star Caleb Wilson was drafted No. 4 overall by the Chicago Bulls.
Throughout the entire pre-draft process, North Carolina Tar Heels star forward Caleb Wilson has been viewed as a top-four pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. That expectation became a reality on Tuesday night.
With the No. 4 overall pick, the Chicago Bulls selected Wilson.
Wilson was a beast for the Tar Heels during his lone season with the program. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to injury and he missed the NCAA Tournament.
Despite the injury, Wilson proved enough to warrant being a top-four pick.
Now that his tenure with North Carolina has officially come to an end, Wilson ends his college career with impressive numbers. He played in 24 games and averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. In addition, he shot 57.8 percent from the floor.
There are some questions about Wilson's game heading into the NBA. He isn't a three-point threat, which many power forward have become at the professional level. During the 2025-26 season, he shot just 27 three-point attempts and made seven of them.
Recently, Wilson received a strong endorsement from Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green. The longtime NBA star believes that Wilson could become the most special player out of the 2026 draft class and also revealed a comparison for him.
“I actually think Caleb Wilson may be the most special of the group,” Green said.
“Caleb Wilson is so good, and I think he’s still clumsy. Like, I think he’s still clumsy and can’t really walk and chew gum at the same time, and yet, he’s already that good right now. So, if this guy is still clumsy and he’s that good right now already, man, what happens when he continues to grow into this body and he [isn’t] clumsy [anymore]? You watch him play, and some of the stuff he’s doing, it doesn’t even seem like he realizes what he’s doing. He’s just doing it. I think Caleb Wilson could potentially be the best player in this draft.”
Green continued on to make his comparison for Wilson. He believes that the Tar Heels star's floor is Kevin Garnett.
“And no disrespect to KG. KG is probably [one of the] top three power forwards we’ve ever seen in our lifetime. KG [had] tenacity and all of that. I think [with] Caleb Wilson, now obviously you've got to do the work, and he isn’t going to walk in like [Garnett], but the type of talent he is, barring that he goes to do the work, I actually think his floor is Kevin Garnett."
All of that being said, the pick has been made and Wilson is now set to begin his NBA career with the Bulls. North Carolina fans will continue to root him on at the next level.
