North Carolina Tar Heels Land 6-foot-9, 400-Pound Behemoth cover image

The North Carolina Tar Heels have scored a huge win on the recruiting cycle.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have certainly become a bigger name on the recruiting circuit thanks to the presence of Bill Belichick, and this week, they just landed one of the more intriguing 2026 prospects available.

North Carolina has secured a late commitment from three-star offensive lineman Dujuan Davis, who just received an offer from the Tar Heels on Monday.

So, what's so unique about Davis? He stands 6-foot-9 and weighs in at nearly 400 pounds. In fact, 247 Sports lists him at 400, but other outlets have him penciled in at 380. Regardless, that is a mountain of a man joining the trenches for UNC.

"Through the Grace of God, I’m blessed and excited to announce that I’ve been offered, committed, and will officially sign on Wednesday with [UNC Football]," Davis wrote in an X post. "Thank you to [Clear Water Central Catholic], my teammates, and everyone who has supported me on this path. I appreciate all of you!"

Oddly enough, Davis is actually an interior offensive lineman and is the 193rd-ranked player in his class at his position, via 247 Sports' composite rankings. Generally, larger offensive lineman are tackles, so perhaps Davis will shift outside at some point.

The Clearwater, Fl. native is also the 250th-ranked 2026 player in the state of Florida.

Davis received offers from seven schools, with Ole Miss and Rutgers among them. But he ultimately decided to take his talents to Chapel Hill.

North Carolina boasts a top-20 recruiting class in the country heading into next season, which is certainly a breath of fresh air after the Tar Heels went just 4-8 in Belichick's debut campaign this past year.

UNC suffered a handful of humiliating blowout losses in Belichick's first season and failed to qualify for a bowl game for the first time since 2018.

To be fair to Belichick, the 73-year-old did not have a whole lot of time to properly build his roster last year after taking the North Carolina job in December 2024.

But now, Belichick seems to have found his groove. We'll see if it ends up resulting in more wins next fall and if it leads to UNC actually becoming a marquee destination for top recruits.
