North Carolina Tar Heels Receive Big News on Explosive Recruit cover image

The North Carolina Tar Heels have received some significant news on a dynamic recruit.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are becoming more and more active on the recruiting trail under Bill Belichick, putting together a top-20 class for 2026.

And you know what? North Carolina is already getting a head start on 2027.

The Tar Heels have bagged commitments from three players for the class of 2027, including four-star athlete Marquis Bryant.

Belichick and Co. certainly aren't stopping there, though, as they are also in the mix for plenty of other top recruits.

That includes four-star running back Elijah Kimble, who will be making an official visit to Chapel Hill on June 12, via Don Callahan of On 3.

Kimble has also scheduled visits with three other schools: Indiana (May 15), Washington (May 29) and Miami (June 5).

North Carolina is among since pretty impressive company there, as the Hoosiers and Hurricanes just faced each other in the National Championship Game last month.

Kimble is the 14th-ranked running back and the 197th-ranked player overall in his class, via 247 Sports' composite rankings. He is also the top-ranked player in New York.

The Buffalo product racked up 1,726 yards and 23 touchdowns on a robust nine yards per carry during his junior campaign at Canisius, also punching in a receiving score.

Kimble's visit to UNC in a few months will represent his first trip to Chapel Hill, so this will be a pivotal meeting for the Tar Heels.

North Carolina's rushing attack struggled in 2025, with freshman Demon June leading the way with 464 yards and a couple of touchdowns.

Of course, the Tar Heels struggled as a whole this past season, going 4-8 and suffering a handful of embarrassing blowout losses in Belichick's debut. But offense was certainly the bigger problem for UNC in 2025.

North Carolina has just one running back recruit coming in for the class of 2026, and that is three-star prospect Drew Davis.

Clearly, the Tar Heels could stand to add some more backfield talent moving forward, so securing a commitment from Kimble would be huge.

Kimble has already received 38 offers in total, so UNC will be facing some very stiff competition for his services.
