Things just don't appear to be getting better for Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

When Bill Belichick took over as head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels in December 2024, headlines were expected, but I'm not sure anyone anticipated the current level of drama that has befallen the program.

Belichick went just 4-8 during his first season in Chapel Hill, suffering a handful of humiliating blowout losses. He also didn't do himself any favors by barring New England Patriots scouts from the facility and banning Drake Maye content on social media.

Of course, Belichick's much-publicized relationship with Jordon Hudson was also the center of attention, and there were also rumors that things were not exactly smooth inside North Carolina's locker room.

Well, former Tar Heels quarterback Marquise Williams has created yet another stir thanks to a cryptic social media post in which he said he would not be attending any UNC games next season.

"I will not be attending any UNC football games this year! The things I’m hearing man I would have never thought," Williams wrote on X, ending his post with a broken heart emoji.

What exactly does Williams mean, and to what is he referring? He didn't elaborate, but it's not difficult to connect the dots.

Belichick's reputation has taken a massive hit over the last year-plus, and it's entirely possible that things at North Carolina were even worse than we heard publicly.

Perhaps Williams heard some things from former players who transferred out of UNC, or maybe he has some sources inside the building.

Whatever the case may be, Williams' post certainly makes things even more dicey as far as the public opinion of Belichick and the Tar Heels is concerned, even if it was rather obscure as a whole.

Williams spent four seasons at North Carolina between 2012 and 2015 and was named Second-Team All-ACC twice during his tenure with the Tar Heels.

His best season came during his final year at Chapel Hill, when he threw for 3,072 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while also racking up 948 yards and 13 scores on the ground.

Williams, who went undrafted, is currently serving as the quarterbacks coach at Louisburg College, a school in North Carolina.

The Tar Heels failed to qualify for a bowl game last season, marking the first time since 2018 that had occurred.

Belichick will aim to get things back on track when North Carolina opens up against TCU for the second straight year on Aug. 29.
