It's tough to agree with what many think, as UNC looks good on paper.
North Carolina's basketball program enters next season with more questions than usual, mainly because it has a new head coach and some players on the roster whom many don't know yet.
I believe North Carolina is much better than it's getting credit for, but until the Tar Heels play the kind of basketball I expect, there will be some fair questions about how things look.
As for the future of this team, I do think head coach Michael Malone has done a really good job building a roster.
Others believe that, considering the $20 million North Carolina spent, it hasn't done nearly enough to suggest it has one of the better teams in the country, and I can understand where one insider is coming from.
"Look, North Carolina paid $20 million for this roster. I think there's about 15 to 16 teams that are about $20 million or higher for their roster this year, and I think you can make a case that North Carolina's $20 million roster is the worst of [those teams]," Jake Trotter said.
"There's just a boatload of questions." "This frontcourt, is it one of the best five frontcourts in the [ACC]? No, you like Duke's more, you like Virginia's more, you like Miami's more...like Louisville's obviously way way more," Trotter continued. "...It's not just the frontcourt that's an issue. It's like, the backcourt, I'm not guaranteed for sure that this backcourt's going to rock."
If the argument here is that, on paper, North Carolina's roster isn't as good as some other teams', that's not wrong.
Even a team like Miami looks to be one of the 10 best in America right now, but I don't think North Carolina is getting as much credit as it should when it comes to guys like Terrence Brown, Matt Able and Neoklis Avdalas.
A lot of these guys have already proven that they can play in big-time spots in college basketball and have a chance to come into the ACC and be some of the best players in the college basketball world, which I think will happen.
