Star guard Terrence Brown arrives in Chapel Hill, injecting elite scoring and playmaking for North Carolina's future success under Coach Michael Malone.

UNC Snags Offensive Power Who Averaged 19.9 Points Per Game

The North Carolina Tar Heels are set to add some major offensive firepower for the 2026-27 campaign.

The Tar Heels needed to add some help before the transfer portal closes on Tuesday.

New head coach Michael Malone is coming from the NBA with the promise of being able to develop talent into a championship contender. But the winner of the 2023 NBA Finals with the Denver Nuggets has yet to recruit as a head coach at the college level.

UNC is getting a huge help on the offensive side of the ball for next season.

Per Joe Tipson of On3, Terrence Brown is set to join the Tar Heels. He's transferring from Utah where he averaged 19.9 points and 3.8 assists for the Utes during the 2025-26 campaign during his junior season.

Brown started his college career at Fairleigh Dickenson where the six-foot-three, 175-pound guard played two seasons for the Knights.

College basketball fans on social media reacted the news that Brown would join UNC.

Terrence Brown is going to be an absolute stud in the ACC. 19.9 PPG and 3.8 APG from Utah? That’s exactly the kind of scoring punch and playmaking we’ve been missing," wrote a fan.

"A HUGE commitment for new UNC Coach Michael Malone and the Tar Heels," posted another.

"Brown is an elite scorer first and foremost, with high usage and efficient scoring especially around the rim for Utah, as well as Fairleigh Dickinson as a Sophomore. Brown has great positional size and strong metrics as a score-first guard.

"I see the vision for this UNC team, Malone might know what he’s doing," believes a fan.

"Terrence Brown scoring 20 points a night for a 10-22 Utah team is the definition of empty stats," posted another.

"UNC fans are celebrating like they just landed a generational talent, but they basically just signed a guy who shoots all game because no one else on his team could."

"19.9 ppg from utah to unc? heels just got a real scorer," commented a fan.

"Smart decision young man since tn is stealing Harris," hopes a poster.
