University of North Carolina star Caleb Wilson has made a major decision for the future of his career.

North Carolina star forward Caleb Wilson announced he is declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft.

Wilson announced his decision with an Instagram post, ending his time with the Tar Heels.

He spent one season with the Tar Heels and played at an elite level, establishing himself as one of the best players in the upcoming draft class.

In his freshman campaign, Wilson averaged 19.8 points per game along with 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks. He shot 57.8 percent from the field and 25.9 percent from three on 1.1 attempts per game.

He was named to the All-ACC Team and was a Consensus All-American. The 19-year-old forward played at a high level for North Carolina, but unfortunately, he went down with a left hand fracture and then a broken right thumb, ending his season.

The Tar Heels then fell to the VCU Rams in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. North Carolina then moved on from head coach Hubert Davis following their exit.

With Davis gone and Wilson, one of their top players, off to the NBA Draft, the Tar Heels will be entering a new era in 2026.

Meanwhile, Wilson will look to make an immediate impact in the NBA. He is a projected top-five pick in the draft.

Wilson seems to be the fourth-highest-ranked prospect as of now, behind Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, and Cameron Boozer. However, after the NCAA Tournament and with the NBA Combine, that could change.

There are also players whose draft stock is on the rise, like Darius Acuff Jr., who played at a high level in the tournament.

Wilson has a ton going for him, as he is an explosive athlete and has also shown the tools to be an elite defender.

However, he still has some room to improve, including his three-point shot. If Wilson is able to develop a quality three-pointer, he could become a complete player.

Wilson is a very talented player and was one of the best players in college basketball in his freshman campaign, and should be able to make the jump and has the potential to be a franchise player as one of the top picks in the draft.
