It doesn't sound like this will happen.

North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick finds himself in a strange position career-wise, as there have been some rumblings in the past that he could welcome a return to the NFL.

For whatever reason, at this point, teams don't seem to have too much interest in the former New England Patriots head coach, a decision from other teams that comes as somewhat of a surprise.

While Belichick brings some drama off the field, as North Carolina fans have found out the hard way, he's done nothing but win for much of his NFL career.

Some people believe he wouldn't find similar success because the situation would be very different this time around, as we saw at the back end of his career in New England without Tom Brady. However, it still feels safe to say that Belichick would be one of the 32 guys who deserve a chance to have a job in the NFL.

While that's the case from the outside, it doesn't sound like he's going to get a job anytime in the near future. According to the latest report from Adam Schefter, teams haven't been interested.

“I’ve also thought teams should be interested. The problem is, teams haven’t been interested,” Schefter said.

“Bill gets another year older every year. And he’s been out of the league another year… The NFL would have to change its stance. There would have to be a team that shows more interest than any team that has in the last couple of years for that to happen,” Schefter added, H/T Heavy.

As Schefter touched on here, as time goes by, Belichick is only getting older, and not that age is necessarily the biggest factor for some teams around the NFL, but it's unlikely that they want to bring in an older head coach who could leave after a couple of seasons if they believe there's a younger option out there who would be just as good or less drama-filled.

The more interesting part is that some North Carolina fans might want him gone and would be willing to see him return to the NFL.

Some love him as a coach and believe the team is playing very good football this season, which is tough to argue with given what we saw a year ago. However, Belichick definitely hasn't lived up to the standards that everybody was hoping for over the first year and a half of his time in Chapel Hill.
