Belichick knows he needs to.
With North Carolina having to make some tough decisions over the past couple of weeks with its football program, it's hopefully going to end in some positives for the program.
The Tar Heels have played pretty well to start the season, and if things had gone according to plan, they'd be 3-0. Unfortunately for North Carolina, they blew a late lead against Clemson, adding to the drama the program has faced over the past two years.
As for what the future looks like after all these investigations and coaching and personnel changes, head coach Bill Belichick had a lot to say about the situation and how things are going to have to change. He spoke about how the program can move forward and what needs to change to get back to just focusing on football.
“That’s our goal, to do things the right way, and be productive and consistent doing them,” Belichick added. “In areas that we can improve in, we should … do that. All that was done by the outside counsel and the people that were part of that, and so we’ll meet with them — and have met with them — to finalize (that)...
“What we talked about are some things that we can do moving forward,” Belichick said, per The Athletic, “but what all was done, who was talked to, what was learned, what wasn’t, I don’t know. The lawyer spoke on that, and that’s not really anything that I had any part of, other than when they asked me some questions.”
Unfortunately for North Carolina, it does feel like over the past two seasons now, there's been a lot more talk about outside factors than what's going on on the field.
The harsh reality for the Tar Heels, however, is that there hasn't really been much to talk about regarding the football program. North Carolina can change that this weekend, however.
It's much easier said than done when it comes to changing what's already happened. It's bad to say, but the truth is that winning changes it all. If UNC wins, these things will go away.
