The NBA Draft will be here soon enough, and guys like Caleb Wilson out of North Carolina will be at the top of the list of players who could go first overall. A lot of it will depend on which teams have which picks, as the NBA Draft Lottery will give us a better sense of what teams need.
On the surface, Wilson would fit in very well with a lot of teams, including the squads that are expected to be at the top of the lottery. If things go as planned on lottery night, Wilson should find himself in a very good position. Draft night will bring some other challenges, so it'll be interesting to see what happens regardless.
He was recently predicted to land with a team that could use a lot of help in the Sacramento Kings. As things currently stand, the Kings would have the fourth overall pick if the draft lottery odds went perfectly. Unfortunately for Kings fans who want him, that isn't typically how things play out.
“The Kings need the best player available regardless of fit, and that is North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson, who unfortunately missed the NCAA Tournament with a broken thumb. Wilson, who also suffered a hand fracture earlier in the season, did more than enough to earn this placement.
"According to Bart Torvik, before the injury the All-ACC big man led the nation with 67 dunks recorded. He was also the only player under 20 years old to reach thresholds of 2.5 percent for both block and steal percentage while also notching a defensive rebound percentage above 20.0 percent,” Bryan Kalbrosky of USA Today wrote.
The Kings are one of those teams that need a ton of talent. Wilson proved during his time at North Carolina that he can definitely come in and be an elite player. However, like most rookies, there will be some growing pains. Regardless, Sacramento would be a decent landing spot for him because he should have some leeway to play a ton and get his feet under him in the NBA.
