After getting embarrassed at home against TCU, the Bill Belichick-led UNC Tar Heels got back on the wagon.

It’s been a wild week for the Heels, but it shouldn’t be a surprise.

The second time that Belichick assumed the helm in Chapel Hill, UNC football has been at the forefront of the news, whether it be regarding on the field or off it.

Throughout his time as the coach with the New England Patriots, Belichick often kept things close to the vest, and he barely let you in. You would take what he says at face value, and then you move on to the next thing.

His post-NFL career has been anything but that.

From his highly-publicized relationship with Jordon Hudson, to appearing on podcasts, to even throwing shade at his former team.

After Week 2’s win against the Charlotte 49ers, Belichick was asked about his relationship with the Patriots, and he responded in a way we’re not used to seeing from him.

“It’s clear that I’m not welcome there around their facility, so they’re not welcome at ours,” Belichick said. “It’s very simple.”

Roundtable’s Josh Graham was live at the game in Charlotte, a game that brought in the biggest crowd in the history of the program, all to watch Belichick grab his first collegiate win.

But Graham touched poignantly that whatever the Heels have done to recover from their disastrous loss to TCU earlier in the week will likely be overshadowed by Belichick’s drama with his former employer.

Amidst all of this drama, the Heels managed to flip a 2026 four-star offensive tackle, JB Shabazz from Tennessee this week as well.

Yet, how quickly all the positives get swept under the rug, because Belichick has an axe to grind.

It’s a shame that this feud between the two parties is occurring, while all the players seem to be getting caught in the middle of it.

As a college coach, Belichick is responsible for the futures of these young men. And now, he’s restricting any and all access to an NFL team that may have an interest in drafting them down the road.

They don’t deserve this, and they don’t deserve to catch the remnants of the battle between Belichick and the Patriots.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft did mention publicly that he does wish to mend the fences with his former coach of 24 years.

“When Bill’s coaching career ends, we look forward to sitting down with him and having a statue made to be right next to Tommy (Brady).”

However, what’s done is done, and for how long this feud may end up being, it’s safe to say not to expect to see any Tar Heels playing snaps for the home team in Foxboro.

An eventful week in Chapel Hill. Ups, downs, everything in between. But let’s keep an eye on how the team responds in Week 3, where the Tar Heels take on FCS Richmond at home.
