UNC got a much needed 91-69 win over Notre Dame, last night. Here's three things we learned.

Hubert Davis is still tinkering with his lineup

Derek Dixon started at point guard for the second straight game and put up 11 points after giving you 14 points at Cal. I think you’ve seen enough from Derek Dixon for him to be the starting at point guard moving forward. His outings have just had so much more juice than Kyan Evans'. Let's also not forget the meaningful threes Dixon hit down the stretch of the Kentucky win.

An additional change happened. Virginia Tech transfer, Jaydon Young got the start at the two guard. He only gave you three points, but I think Hubert Davis did this to make some things happen defensively. This move also sent Jarin Stevenson to the bench.

UNC did improve defensively, but it had an asterisk

After the beating Carolina took the last four games trying to defend, specifically on the perimeter, the Tar Heels only allowed 69 points to the Irish on 36 percent shooting from the field. However, the asterisk comes with the fact that Notre Dame's best player, Marcus Burton, was missing.

Burton leads the team in scoring with 18.5 points per game, but has been out since December 5th against TCU after injuring his ankle.

The greater test for UNC will be against no. 14 Virginia on Saturday, or whenever they end up playing due to the coming winter storm. Ryan Odum's Cavaliers have been averaging about 84 points per game.

Caleb Wilson continues to show unprecedented leadership as a Freshman

Not only does Caleb Wilson show a level of maturity on the court which will have him going as a top lottery pick in this year's NBA Draft, but he shows it off the court as well.

Whether it's his watching nonstop film on a team he hasn't played yet or his handling of the media, he has been top tier.

Last night he mentioned that he and the players have heard much of the criticism on Hubert Davis by both fans and the media. “I hate people who try to blame Hubert Davis for our lapses. Our coach is teaching us the right things, it’s all about our effort”, Caleb said when asked about the subject.

It's certainly a nice win for the Tar Heels because it's definitive, but there is still work to be done. On to Charlottesville for UNC.
