Cool David Braun Moment

The Northwestern Wildcats brought 35,000 fans out to the New Ryan Field for their 34-13 win over Penn State on October 2, including Josie Belfer.

Belfer is a native of San Mateo, Calif. who decided to attend Northwestern for college and is a self-described "anti-sports-team person."

Now working as the Assistant Opinion Editor of The Daily Northwestern student newspaper, Belfer decided to give the Wildcats vs. Penn State game a chance in Evanston and loved what she saw.

“Standing in Ryan Field this weekend, even as a fiercely anti-football anti-sports-team person, I have to admit I did feel kind of proud to go to Northwestern,” Belfer wrote according to The Daily Northwestern.

Moments like these are what make sports such a unifying part of society, and why I love being a fan.

“For the record.... I really liked your article!" Braun wrote to Belfer.

"It was candid and your personal perspective. I'm glad you experienced the thrill of team spirit and did it with friends and community. When done right - this is what makes college football so special! Ignore the social media trolls and enjoy your Fall Quarter!

I hope you decide to learn the Fight Song and we look forward to having you at more games in the future. Go 'Cats!!”
