Northwestern had an encouraging series this weekend against the Spartans, taking the final two games of the series.

In game one, the 'Cats couldn't get the bats going and fell 5-1. But the lineup came alive in game two, scoring 10 runs to edge out MSU by one, and then they wrapped up the series with an 8-6 win on Sunday.

It was a successful weekend for the Wildcats, but it followed a similar theme to the season so far. Northwestern has a lineup capable of competing with anyone in any given game. But the staff is currently posting a 7.42 ERA. If that doesn't change, it's going to be hard to climb back above .500.
