Northwestern confirms official visit

The 'Cats are bringing three-star class of 2027 recruit Amir Hogans out of New York. Northwestern will host the player listed as an "athlete" by industry standard recruiting sites as part of a larger group visit this upcoming weekend. According to his X profile, Hogans is primarily a wide receiver, but he has the profile to play other positions at the next level if that's what makes the most sense. Northwestern hasn't always had players with that sort of flexibility. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 215 lbs, though, it does seem like Hogans could be a quite effective big wide out at the X spot. We'll learn more about how the Wildcats view him if he chooses to come here, and there's no better time to make the case for four years in Evanston than right now.May 26, 2026

2027 Offensive Tackle Visiting Northwestern in June

This week, Northwestern offered unranked offensive tackle prospect Aidan Gray out of the 2027 class. Gray doesn't have a star ranking from 247Sports or Rivals as of yet, but it certainly feels like it's coming. The 300 lbs mass of humanity already has offers from Kansas State, Houston and Baylor. All of those will be formidable opponents for the 'Cats in recruiting Gray, especially the Texas schools. According to Louie Vaccher of Wildcat Report, Gray is set to visit campus from June 19-21, right after graduation. He'll get a chance to check out Northwestern's facilities, as well as its new stadium that is currently under construction. The 'Cats develop linemen well, so whenever they're in the mix for one it's worth paying attention to.May 22, 2026

Did Chip Kelly help land NU's recent QB recruit?

This weekend, RJ Day committed to Northwestern after taking a visit to Evanston. Day is the son of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, who was with RJ on his official visit. The elder day is a National Championship winning coach with the Buckeyes. One reason the 'Cats may have had the upper hand in the recruitment process here is new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. Kelly spent this past season in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders, but prior to that he was the OC at OSU under Day. He was there when the Buckeyes won that National Championship. The two coaches have a lot of ties, so it only makes sense that Kelly's presence in Evanston was a selling chip for the Wildcats.May 11, 2026

Northwestern Baseball Swept Again

The 'Cats were swept for the fourth time in five series this weekend at Illinois. It was the latest poor showing in a string of poor showings that have defined the second half of what once looked like a promising year. Head coach Ben Greenspan is still relatively new, but he's on the clock to figure out this team's pitching issues. Again this weekend, the 'Cats took themselves out of ballgames in the early going because their starting pitcher couldn't keep them in it. Northwestern allowed more than ten runs twice, and it was run-ruled in the first game of the series on Friday. That's been all-too consistent of a theme all season.
