Northwestern hosts Ball State for Homecoming at New Ryan Field. Here's everything to know about Saturday's kickoff, TV coverage, betting odds and injuries.
Northwestern returns to New Ryan Field on Saturday for its Homecoming matchup against Ball State, looking to continue building momentum following an impressive victory over Penn State.
The Wildcats enter the matchup with a 3-1 record after dominating the Nittany Lions 34-13 in the first game at their new stadium. Northwestern will look to improve to 4-1 and remain undefeated at New Ryan Field.
Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly’s unit has continued to improve throughout the season, coming off a dominant performance in which Northwestern rushed for 413 yards and four touchdowns. Caleb Komolafe led the way with 188 rushing yards, while Joseph Himon II added 162 yards and two touchdowns.
Northwestern’s defense has also been impressive, holding Penn State to just 13 points and 48 rushing yards last week. Linebacker Braydon Brus earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording nine tackles, a sack and an interception.
Ball State enters Saturday’s matchup with a 1-4 record and has struggled against FBS competition, losing all four of those games by double digits. The Cardinals will face a Northwestern team that enters as a massive favorite for the first time this season.
With Michigan State waiting next week, the Wildcats will look to take care of business and continue their strong start.
