A Wildcat to another Wildcat. Northwestern women's basketball lands its second addition from the transfer portal.

Northwestern women’s basketball lands its second addition from the transfer portal, following Camdyn Nelson’s move from Syracuse on Sunday.

Per On3’s report, Lexi Blue, a sophomore from Kentucky, committed to Northwestern on Monday, a commitment later confirmed by the team. The 6-2 guard from Orlando, Fla., played 51 games without a start over two years, averaging 1.9 points and shooting 31% from the field. Last season, she posted a career-high 18 points against Monmouth in November.

Blue becomes the second transfer portal addition for new Northwestern head coach Carla Berube, who was hired in late March after leading Princeton to five NCAA tournaments. With Nelson added, the ‘Cats currently have seven guards on the roster.

Blue was part of the 2024-25 Wildcats team, which finished 23-8 (11-5 SEC) and advanced to the 2025 NCAA Tournament’s second round before losing to then-No. 5 Kansas State. The team then finished 25-11 (11-11 SEC) in the past season and again made March Madness, wrapping up the season in the Sweet Sixteen after losing to Texas.

Blue starred at Lake Highland Preparatory School in Orlando, where she played five seasons and helped lead the Highlanders to five consecutive Florida state championships (2020–2024). As a senior in 2023-24, she averaged 13.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. She shot an impressive 50.2% from the field and 41.1% from three-point range (67 made threes).

Blue played five seasons at Lake Highland Prep (Orlando, Fla.) for her high school career, accumulating 1,360 points, 504 rebounds, 196 threes, 187 assists, 99 steals and 43 blocks, helping guide the Highlanders to five straight state championships. ESPN ranked her as a consensus four-star prospect in its top-50 list.

She originally committed to Virginia Tech but flipped to Kentucky in April 2024 to follow head coach Kenny Brooks. At the time, she was Kentucky's highest-ranked incoming freshman in several years (behind only a prior five-star). Her size, shooting range and versatility as a big guard made her a promising addition for the Wildcats.

Blue saw limited action in a crowded, veteran Kentucky rotation that reached the Sweet 16 in the 2025-26 season. She appeared in 28 games — all off the bench — averaging 2.1 points and 1.0 rebounds in about 11 minutes per game last season.

With two years of eligibility remaining, she could be a developmental piece under Berube, with upside due to her length, shooting potential and championship pedigree from high school.
