The Wildcats have extended a scholarship offer to four-star point guard Quentin Mosby, one of the nation's top prospects in the 2028 recruiting class. Mosby announced the offer on social media, thanking assistant coach Bryant McIntosh and the Northwestern coaching staff.
Currently ranked as the No. 77 overall player in the 2028 class, Mosby is already attracting attention from several Power Four programs. Along with Northwestern, he holds offers from Washington, Stanford and Utah, among others.
Although Mosby is still two high school seasons away from beginning his college career, Northwestern's early offer demonstrates how highly the coaching staff views his long-term potential.
Mosby recently transferred to IMG Academy, one of the nation's premier basketball programs, where he'll continue developing against elite competition. The move gives him an opportunity to elevate his game while preparing for the next stage of his basketball career.
Before transferring to IMG, Mosby dominated during his sophomore season at Lakeside, averaging 30.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists across 20 games. His scoring ability, playmaking instincts and overall versatility helped establish him as one of the top young guards in the country.
Those numbers are a major reason Northwestern is making its move early.
With two years of high school basketball still remaining, Mosby has plenty of time to continue developing physically and refining his game. His transition to IMG Academy will allow him to compete against some of the nation's best talent while preparing for the increased demands of college basketball.
For head coach Chris Collins and his staff, identifying players early has become an important part of the program's recruiting strategy.
