The former Unanimous All-American is set for a big pay increase in Tennessee.

Since entering the NFL in 2023, Peter Skoronski has steadily climbed up the ranks of the league's best offensive linemen. He's now being rewarded for his consistent improvement.

The Tennessee Titans intend to pick up the fifth-year option on Skoronski's contract, according to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler. Skoronski is entering the fourth season of his rookie deal and will make $6.3 million this fall. In 2027, the former first-round pick is set to earn just over $19 million before hitting unrestricted free agency.

Skoronski spent three accolade-filled seasons at Northwestern. As a true freshman, the Park Ridge, Ill., native replaced Los Angeles Chargers lineman Rashawn Slater and instantly made an impact. Skoronski started all nine games at left tackle as the Wildcats won the Big Ten West and the Citrus Bowl.

He earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore in 2021, then emerged as one of the top protectors in the nation in 2022. Skoronski was named a Unanimous All-American and the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year as a junior, and he declared for the NFL Draft shortly after.

The Titans selected Skoronski with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, making him the highest-picked Northwestern Wildcat since 1983 (Chris Hinton, No. 4 overall). Despite playing left tackle at NU, Skoronski moved inside to left guard from the jump in Tennessee.

Skoronski's introduction to left guard fielded mixed results. The interior lineman gave up five sacks as a rookie, then four in his second season. However, Skoronski broke out during the 2025 campaign and showed the Titans exactly why they took him with a top draft pick.

Out of 81 qualified guards, Pro Football Focus ranked Skoronski's 79.0 overall grade sixth in the NFL, while his 84.5 pass-blocking grade was the second-best in the league. Only All-Pro veteran Joe Thuney — who won the inaugural Protector of the Year award — recorded a higher pass-blocking grade than Skoronski.

Now 24 years old, Skoronski will look to help turn the Tennessee Titans around. The franchise selected quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in 2025, but the rookie passer was sacked a whopping 55 times in his first season at the helm.

Tennessee finished 3-14 in 2025 and has the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Former Jets coach Robert Saleh was hired as the new head coach on Jan. 22, 2026.
