Three-star edge rusher Kyle Davis has committed to Northwestern, giving head coach David Braun another key addition to the Wildcats' 2027 recruiting class after choosing NU over Georgia Tech, NC State and several other Power Four programs.
Northwestern added another key piece to its 2027 recruiting class after three-star prospect Kyle Davis announced his commitment to the Wildcats.
The Georgetown Preparatory School standout from Bethesda, Maryland, chose Northwestern over Georgia Tech, NC State and several other Power Four programs, giving head coach David Braun another recruiting win as the Wildcats continue building for the future.
According to 247Sports, Davis holds an 87 rating, ranks as the No. 72 athlete nationally and is the No. 22 player in Maryland. Although he starred at both tight end and edge rusher in high school, Northwestern made it clear it wanted him to play on the defensive line.
"I definitely wanted to play defensive end more," Davis said after announcing his commitment. "I feel like I have more of a passion for it and enjoy working on it every day."
That vision, combined with Northwestern's elite academics, played a major role in his decision.
"I was looking for a good mix of education and football and I thought it fit perfectly," Davis said. "Coach David Braun had a similar mindset."
Davis' athletic background gives him plenty of upside as a pass rusher. His experience on both sides of the ball has helped him develop the speed, coordination and versatility that Northwestern believes can translate into an impact edge defender at the Big Ten level.
Braun has built his defenses around aggressive, versatile pass rushers, making Davis a strong fit for Northwestern's defensive system. With continued development, he has the potential to become another disruptive piece along the Wildcats' defensive front.

"I definitely would love to compete for a national championship and Big Ten championship," Davis said. "I think just competing every day and working as hard as I can to elevate everyone around me."
While he still has another season of high school football remaining, Davis gives Northwestern another talented defensive prospect with significant upside. Landing a recruit with multiple Power Four offers is another positive sign that Braun and his staff continue to attract high-level talent as they build the Wildcats' future.
