Notre Dame wide receiver Jaden Greathouse will miss a fourth consecutive game when the Fighting Irish visit Boston College this weekend

Notre Dame will again be without a key player when the Fighting Irish travel to Boston College this Saturday. Wide receiver Jaden Greathouse will miss a fourth straight game this week as the Irish come out of their second bye week of the 2025 season. Greathouse is listed as “out for the game” on the team’s latest injury report, which was released Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, defensive back Devonta Smith, who has missed Notre Dame’s last two games with a right calf injury, remains listed as “questionable” for this week’s game.

“I think as you look at it, two different injuries,” Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman explained during his Thursday media call. “With Devonte, we were aggressive with trying to get him back and he re-injured it when he was in the game, and that's something we've been trying to prevent. We wanted to get it to a point where we're not pushing it to push him to play if he's not as close to 100% as he can be because of what can happen to the injury.”

Smith, who transferred to Notre Dame from Alabama this season, started the season opener at Miami and then missed the next two games with the calf injury. He returned and started against Arkansas on Sept. 27 and then played just seven snaps the following week in Notre Dame’s win over Boise State.

Greathouse started Notre Dame’s first two games against Miami and Texas A&M and then came off the bench the next two games against Purdue and Arkansas.

“With Jaden, we're being smart,” Freeman remarked. “We're using kind of the what happened with Devonta, and kind of applying it to Jaden. Like, let's be smart with how much we push him. Let's let his body truly heal up, and when he can help us, we'll make that decision to put him back in there. But we just don't want to rush it. He's not 100% and, we don't want to put him in a situation to re-injure his hamstring.”

Greathouse has four receptions for 73 yards on eight total targets in his time on the field this season. He had two receptions for 41 yards against A&M and two more catches for 32 yards against Arkansas. He played a season high 39 snaps against the Hurricanes in the opener and 32 against the Aggies and then played just 17 snaps against Purdue and 24 snaps against the Razorbacks.
