Notre Dame's Aamil Wagner showcased impressive speed and length at the NFL Combine, aiming to boost his draft stock. His testing results reveal both strengths and areas for development.

Former Notre Dame right tackle Aamil Wagner looked to impress and increase his draft stock this weekend in Indianapolis in front of numerous NFL coaches and scouts. On paper, Wagner had the the numbers of an elite right tackle. Outside of his opening performance against Miami, he was rock solid and steady throughout the regular season for the Fighting Irish offensive line. There were some overall concerns about his size at tackle in the NFL, but his athleticism as an offensive tackle wasn't in question. Here are Wagner's measurements and testing numbers:

MEASUREMENTS

Height: 6-6
Weight: 306-pounds
Arm Length: 34.5"
Hand Size: 10"

TESTING NUMBERS

40-Yard: 5.01
10-Yard: 1.79
Vertical Jump: 29.5"
Broad Jump: 9'0"

Combine Performance Recap

Wagner was one of Notre Dame's healthiest offensive lineman over the last two seasons so there weren't any drills he wasn't physically able to perform in. During the vertical jump, Wagner logged a 29.5" vertical which was relatively middle of the pack amongst the 2026 offensive line draft class. The same could be said for his broad jump which was officially logged at 9'0" even. I would have liked to see some slightly better numbers here from Wagner given his size relatively to the rest of the class.

The Ohio native made up some ground in the 40-yard dash. Wagner logged an official time of 5.02 with a 1.79 10-yard split. He was a long-strider in the 40-yard dash and we got to see a little bit of the straight line speed we saw on occasion from Wagner during his time in South Bend. His 40-yard dash time ranked towards the top of the 2026 offensive line class, making up for some of his numbers in the vertical and broad jump.

Wagner performed well in the change of direction drill. His strides were extremely long and he didn't cross his feet, something he did from time to time in pass protection against Miami in the season opener. He moved fluidly and showcased some of his explosiveness. He looked like one of the more smooth offensive lineman that went in the second group.

In the long pull, Wagner changed direction well and had a good rep in his first go-round. The Ohio native looked slightly tight-hipped but exploded well through the turn and finished strong. In the second pull drill, Wagner looked significantly more comfortable lining up at the right tackle spot compared to the left tackle spot. In the kick-slide drill, Wagner moved well in space and had a decent punch on the pad.

Over the last two seasons, Wagner was the only offensive lineman at Notre Dame who started, played in and finished all 28 games (16 in 2024 and 12 in 2025). He's faced a smattering of elite level competition including Abdul Carter, Jack Sawyer and Mikael Kamara in the 2024 playoffs and Rueben Bain, Akeem Mesidor and Cashius Howell in 2025. His evaluation from some reputable NFL Draft analysts had some ups and downs, but there was no doubt about his character.

"Two-year starter and 2025 team captain with elite personal character but marginal athletic traits," NFL analyst Lance Zierlein explained. "Wagner is smart and makes good use of his length when punching/staying connected to second-level blocks. His lack of foot quickness reduces his range as a run blocker and creates issues getting to his set-points against edge speed in protection. Wagner lacks the body control to adjust comfortably to moving targets, which limits his potential against NFL athleticism. He could be drafted in the late rounds, but I see a relatively low ceiling."

Wagner at 6-6, 306-pounds has some size concerns at the next level, but the experience he brings to the table is undeniable. It's unlikely the Ohio native will be drafted in the first few rounds of the draft, but he'll likely be taken in the later rounds. His production, experience on big stages and leadership qualities combined with the backing of starting for two years at 'O-Line U' will add Wagner's named to the list of lineman drafted from South Bend.
