Irish running backs made history in the 2026 NFL Draft. Now, a stacked roster signals a future draft run.
Spring has officially come to a close for Notre Dame and now, the bulk of the offseason is upon us. This has been an eventful last couple of weeks for the Fighting Irish on the current roster and notable alums who were selected in this year's NFL Draft. Running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price made history as the first two running backs from the same school to be taken as the first two running backs off the board. Notre Dame remains in the lead for all time NFL Draft picks with 544.
The Irish had six players selected in this draft which brings the grand total to 22 draft picks since head coach Marcus Freeman has taken over, 19 of them have come in the last three drafts and he returns his most talented team this year. Are the Irish poised to go on a run over the next two NFL Drafts? We dive into that in today's show as well as a recap of this past draft. We wrapped everything up with a daily mailbag dedicated to answering questions about the draft and future drafts. You can listen to all of that and more in today's episode of the Irish Breakdown Podcast.

Here are some of the main quotes from today's episode:
On The Notre Dame NFL Draft Recap...
"All in all, they had six overall players get drafted between Jeremiyah Love, Jadarian Price, Malachi Fields, Eli Raridon, Billy Schrauth and Gabriel Rubio who was a pleasant surprise going in the sixth round. I'm a little shocked that Jared Dawson has yet to be signed as an undrafted free agent but there's still time. I don't think he's gotten an invite to any rookie mini-camps yet either. But when everything was said and done, this was a very good draft for Notre Dame and Fighting Irish alum. Love and Price made history, Raridon kept the streak alive of Notre Dame tight ends being draft and players like Raridon and Rubio were picked significantly higher than expected."
On Notre Dame's Future Outlook In The NFL Draft...
"Here's the crazy thing, the majority of the first-round talent and first-round potential is still on the roster when you start talking about CJ Carr, Leonard Moore, Boubacar Traore, Guerby Lambert, Will Black, Anthonie Knapp, Tae Johnson and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. And that doesn't even include guys like Jaden Greathouse, Jordan Faison, Adon Shuler, Christian Gray, Ashton Craig or Mylan Graham. There's a lot of talent on this roster and looking at it like this is why we're so excited to see what this team can do this season. The 2027 and 2028 NFL Drafts are looking really good for Notre Dame players in the near future. The question now is how good they'll be and how high they'll go."
