Spring practice fuels Notre Dame's secondary. Coaches and players discuss offseason drive, developing depth, and achieving championship goals for the fall.

Notre Dame is now at the half-way point in spring practice and we're one day closer to the Blue Gold game at the end of the month and one day closer to kicking off the 2026 season up at Lambeau Field when they take on Wisconsin. With every passing practice, the more confident we're feeling about this team and their ability to reach their full potential this fall. This team is absolutely loaded with top level talent and the secondary takes a back seat to none on the team and the country.

Today, after practice, we got to hear from new defensive backs coach Aaron Henry who is also the defensive pass game coordinator and co-defensive coordinator. We also got to hear from special teams coordinator Marty Biagi along with members of the Fighting Irish cornerback room and safety room. This group is absolutely loaded and poised for a big season. Today, we got to hear about what's fueling their offseason regime, the growth they've shown and the goals they have for the fall.

Here are some of the main quotes from today's press conference:

Aaron Henry On The Depth In The Secondary

"The goal over the course of spring ball is to develop that depth," Henry explained. "We had a lot of young guys getting a lot of reps to spring ball and then when we get to fall camp. We know we have good players here, but I think especially as you get into the course of the season, you have to have really, really good guys to back them up. If you're going to make a run, it's a long season and guys will get banged up. It's a physical sport and so we just have to do a really good job of continuing to develop that."

Adon Shuler On What Brought Him Back To Notre Dame

"I want to finish my degree," Shuler shared. "But really, it was the team that's coming back. I talked to Coach [Marcus] Freeman after the playoff situation and we have a lot of starters coming back. That was really it; I wanted to do it with my brothers. I feel like we didn't get the opportunity to test the waters in the playoffs. I'm here to run it back."

Leonard Moore On How He Individually Will Leave No Doubt

"Me individually, looks like me coming in every day and being focused on each rep," Moore shared. "I'm always coming into practice with something to get better at and not being complacent. Obviously, you can hear the noise and you can pay attention to the talk about Notre Dame and how good we're supposed to be. But if we don't put it on tape, we're not going to end up being that good."
