Dive into draft analysis, a Blue Gold game preview, and SEC spring storylines. Your questions answered about Notre Dame's top talent and future stars.

Another week of the 2026 offseason has come to an end. Thankfully, we have some football to look forward to this season. The 95th annual Blue Gold game is this Saturday inside of Notre Dame Stadium at 2:00 PM. This will be our first time seeing the Fighting Irish take the field since the end of the regular season in 2025. There's a lot to pay attention to tomorrow afternoon, but before we get there, we have a Friday free-for-all mailbag.

We covered a wide range of topics this week including a Blue Gold game breakdown, talking through the NFL Draft which kicked off yesterday night and a look at the SEC post-spring and the storylines coming out of that conference. With Notre Dame's spring wrapping up, we have a lot of that content coming that way for the Irish but until then, it's time to sit down and enjoy the Friday free-for-all mailbag on the Irish Breakdown Podcast.

Here are some of the main quotes from today's episode:

On Jeremiyah Love And Jadarian Price Going In The First Round...

"Those two players made history for the NFL Draft and for Notre Dame. That's the best backfield I've seen in South Bend in my lifetime and I don't know if it's overly close, for me. Love won the Doak Walker Award and was the first Notre Dame running back to do so in program history. He was a Heisman Finalist in 2025 and it makes sense why the Cardinals took him No. 3 overall whether some analysts agree with it or not.

"Price was a steal at the end of the first round. He fills a need in Seattle after Kenneth Walker went to the Chiefs and Zach Charbonnet is out with an ACL injury right now. Both players are likely going to start when the season rolls around and I'm excited to see what they do in year one."

On Where Carr Would Have Been Taken If He Was Able To Come Out In This Year's Draft...

"To be honest with you, I don't think he would have went overly high, definitely not as high as he will be next year if he elects to come out in the 2027 draft. He had a really good first year starting for a redshirt freshman, but now it's about how good can he be in general, not just for a young player. Now, Ty Simpson was taken No. 13 overall after only starting for one season so anything is possible.

"But next year, I think Carr could be a Top 5 pick and I don't think that would have been the case this season if he elected to come out. Now, thankfully, we didn't have to worry about that because I would have thought that would have been a bad decision, but he'll go high in next year's draft. I'm confident in saying that."
