Six Fighting Irish stars aim to impress at the NFL Combine, while we scout future 2027 QBs and pinpoint offensive breakout candidates.

The NFL Combine is this weekend and there's six former Notre Dame players who will be looking to put their skillsets on full display down in Indianapolis. Running backs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, wide receiver Malachi Fields, tight end Eli Raridon and offensive lineman Billy Schrauth and Aamil Wagner all look to improve their draft stock down in Indianapolis. On today's show, we talked about what all six guys have to do to improve their draft stock and what they have to do this weekend.

We also broke down the names to know in the 2027 quarterback class and we highlighted some big-time playmakers in this class that the Irish have some interest in. To wrap everything up, we talked about who we believe will breakout on offense this season. Every breakout is different, and Mike Denbrock's offense is loaded with potential stars. We talk about all of that, and more, in today's episode of the Irish Breakdown Podcast.

Here are some of the topics we discussed on today's show:

On The MOU For This Year's College Football Playoffs...

"Here's the issue, everyone is only paying attention to what the MOU means for Notre Dame. Yes, if they are ranked inside of the Top 12 in a 12-team playoff, they make the playoffs. What a travesty. Here's the other piece, every P4 conference champion, regardless of ranking, will make the playoffs. If Duke wins the ACC against and is ranked No. 18 in the country, they make the playoffs. Ohio State could lose to Texas in week one 100 to zero and still make the College Football Playoffs if they just win the Big Ten. The MOU isn't just a benefit to Notre Dame, it benefits every team and every Power 4 conference."

On Malachi Fields' Opportunity At The NFL Combine...

"I would argue that Malachi Fields has the most to gain out of a strong performance this weekend down here in Indianapolis. After his showcase down in Mobile, Alabama at the Senior Bowl, he quickly started to rise up people's draft boards. If he's able to put on a showcase at the combine and run somewhere in the low 4.5 range with his 40-yard dash time, he might sneak into the first round. He has the frame, production and proven ability as a contested catch receiver. If he runs a low 4.5, that solidifies his spot as a day-two pick. If Malachi runs sub 4.5, he might sneak into the first round of the draft."

On Guerby Lambert's Breakout In 2026...

"Similar to CJ Carr, I think Guerby is in a spot to prove that he's not just an elite talent on the offensive line for a redshirt freshman. This season, he has the opportunity to prove he's just an elite offensive lineman relative to the rest of college football. Last year, he flashed immediately, but at times would still make redshirt freshman-level type of mistakes. This year, they're moving him back to tackle where he's the most comfortable and I think he's going to put the country on notice with the level of dominance he'll put on display this season."
