The Irish beat out Oregon and Miami to land the explosive Valor Christian standout, securing a speedy 6-4 playmaker to ignite their 2027 offensive recruiting class.

Notre Dame has picked up a commitment from one of the most underrated pass catchers in the country, landing a pledge Jackson Coleman. The Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian standout picked Notre Dame over Oregon, Miami and Northwestern. Notre Dame is now on the board with wide receivers in the 2027 class.

This was a very quick courtship, as Notre Dame didn't get out to see Coleman until April 15th, and his scholarship offer didn't come until the following day when he connected with wide receivers coach Mike Brown. There was immediate interest between both parties, and Notre Dame was able to convince Coleman to visit the weekend of the Blue-Gold Game (April 25th). Just over after that visit the Irish were able to secure a commitment from the talented pass catcher.

Coleman is a fast rising recruiting that has an offer list that far surpasses his three-star ranking. As a junior, the 6-4, 195-pound wide receiver caught 45 passes for 975 yards and nine touchdowns. Coleman finished his junior season with a 21.7-per catch average. He was especially good in the playoffs, topping 100 yards in two of the team's three postseason games. Coleman caught five passes for 144 yards and a pair of scores in the first round and caught eight passes for 161 yards in the state championship game. Coleman also had four catches for 101 yards in a win over Denver (Colo.) Mullen, who also earned a playoff bid.

Recruiting picked up for Coleman following his breakout junior season. Oregon offered him in January and quickly vaulted up his list. In fact, prior to Notre Dame getting involved the Ducks were considered the team to beat for Coleman. Miami offered him in early March and Auburn offered by the end of the month. Michigan offered him a week before the Irish jumped in with an offer.

It's easy to see why so many top programs made a run at Coleman after getting their eyes on his junior film. He's tall and athletic, showing impressive vertical speed. Coleman ran a personal best 10.67 as a sophomore, and you could see that speed show up on film all season. He shows good route running potential and catches the ball well. Coleman has the kind of length, pass catching skills and speed to be a boundary receiver in the Notre Dame offense. As he adds more strength, Coleman will see his all around game take off.

Coleman earned offers from Notre Dame, Oregon, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Auburn, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Kansas State, Duke, Purdue, California, Minnesota, Iowa State, Colorado, Washington State, Oregon State and Syracuse.

Coleman is the 13th player to commit to Notre Dame in the 2027 class. He joins Florida quarterback Champ Monds, Texas running back Lathan Whisenton, Massachusetts running back Isaiah Rogers, Pennsylvania offensive lineman James Halter, Wisconsin offensive lineman Richie Flanigan, New Jersey defensive end Aidan O'Neil, Florida linebacker Amarri Irvin, North Carolina cornerback Xavier Hasan, Ohio cornerback Ace Alston, Florida safety Zayden Gamble, Florida nickel John Gay III and North Carolina long snapper Sean Kraft.
