Notre Dame moved up another spot in the Coaches Poll after its fourth straight win, this time with a convincing 36-7 win over NC State. The Irish moved up to No. 15 in the rankings after the win and after some losses by teams ahead of the Irish.
Notre Dame has won all four of its games by at least 21 points, including the 29-point win over the Wolfpack. The Wolfpack kept it close for awhile, with the Irish leading just 10-7 at halftime. Notre Dame dominated the second half and scored the final 29 points of the game.
Missouri dropped behind the Irish after its 27-24 win over now No. 6 Alabama. No. 15 Michigan dropped completely out of the rankings after its 31-13 loss to USC. The Trojans are Notre Dame's next opponent and they jumped into the rankings at No. 21. Michigan, Iowa State, Penn State and Arizona State all dropped out after losses this weekend. USC, Utah, South Florida and Cincinnati replaced them in the rankings.
Notre Dame also has to play Navy and Pittsburgh, and both teams received votes this week. Navy is 5th among the also receiving votes teams and received 30 votes. Pittsburgh received a vote after its road win over Florida State.
Notre Dame was leaped by BYU in the rankings after their 33-27 road win over Arizona. The Wildcats did not receive any votes but the overtime win by the Cougars was apparently enough for the voters to jump them up four spots and ahead of Notre Dame.
Notre Dame's only losses this season are to now No. 2 Miami and No. 4 Texas A&M.
