Notre Dame 2027 Running Back Recruiting: Names To Know cover image

Uncover Notre Dame's top 2027 running back targets. Discover the dynamic playmakers poised to continue the Irish's legendary backfield legacy.

Notre Dame is arguably the hottest program in the country when it comes to recruiting and developing big time running backs. The Irish are expected to have the first two running backs selected in the upcoming NFL Draft and they also signed the best running back duo in the country in the 2026 recruiting cycle.

This will be the first full recruiting cycle for running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider, who now has to prove he can do on his own what past RB coaches like Deland McCullough and Lance Taylor were able to accomplish. Seider did a great job in year one building on what McCullough had established and he played a pivotal role in landing Javian Osborne and Jonaz Walton.

The board is talented and now Notre Dame enters a crucial period. As we kick off the spring recruiting period let's take a look at the top prospects on the board for the Irish. The article is on the IB Premium board, but here's a sample of the breakdowns:

ISAIAH ROGERS

Height/Weight: 5-10, 190
Hometown/High School: Springfield, Mass./Central

Rogers recently released a Top 8 list and Notre Dame was on it, along with Georgia, Penn State, Nebraska, UCLA, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Indiana. He's a player the Irish staff is working hard on right now and I'm curious to see when he'll get on campus this spring. Rogers is one of my favorite backs in the class. His level of competition isn't great, but the skills he has are impressive and translate very well to the next level.

Rogers is a very patient runner, but when he makes a decision he can go. He's a no nonsense runner that wants to go north-south. I like his efficiency and he shows impressive foot quickness and the ability to change direction when he wants to or needs to. He's sneak shifty, because he's so smooth and you don't notice how easily he makes people miss. But at the end of the day, Rogers knows the fastest way to get from Point A to Point B is a straight line and I really like that combination for him. He's a legit pass catcher out of the backfield and as he fills out his power will continue to improve.

TRE SEGARRA

Height/Weight: 5-10, 195
Hometown/High School: Duncan, S.C./Byrnes

Segarra began dominating as a freshman, rushing for 1,115 yards and 11 touchdowns, but his sophomore season was cut short by an injury. He bounced back with 1,460 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior. Notre Dame is trailing some SEC schools right now, but they are working to get him on campus and move up with him. Segarra is scheduled to visit Notre Dame for the March 21st Junior Day, and that will be a huge visit for the Irish staff if they want to have a shot to land Segarra.

Segarra is built extremely well, with a thick lower half and impressive natural pad level. He's a really, really smooth runner with great feet and easy change of direction skills. He's patient when he needs to be and decisive when he needs to be. His leg drive is outstanding, but despite being built like a bully back he's a legit threat out of the backfield. Segarra shows really good initial burst, but his acceleration is what really puts him over the top as a prospect.

There are eight total prospects on the board. To read the rest of the breakdown you must be a premium IB member. To read it CLICK HERE.
