The Ohio State Buckeyes will head west to Purdue University to take on the lowly Boilermakers, who are limping their way through the 2025 football season in week 11.
Saturday is a case study of two teams that are in two completely different tiers, having two different seasons.
Purdue enters the contest with a 2-7 record on the season, but is coming off of a very inspired performance in Ann Arbor against the Michigan Wolverines. In a game where the program lost by a final score of 21-16, they had the lead for portions of the game. Purdue ran out of gas by the end of the year, but they did show that they still have a little bit of fight in them.
For Ohio State, they are clearly a team on a mission. They are steamrolling through their schedule and taking no prisoners along the way.
The best part about this year's Buckeye squad is that the group is the closest to a professional team at the college football level. Head coach Ryan Day and the program approach every game with the utmost respect for their opponent, and they do not take anything for granted.
The result of the proper mindset is that they come out with full focus ever single week, which protects the Buckeyes from any potential upsets.
Beyond the fact that they are going to approach this football game in the right way, Ohio State has a lot to work on on the offensive side of the football. While the pass game is second-to-none, the Buckeyes' rushing attack leaves a lot to be desired.
The combination of CJ Donaldson, James Peoples, Bo Jackson, and Isaiah West is simply not getting the job done; however, the running back core has three weeks to figure it out before a trip to Ann Arbor, and more importantly, for the playoffs.
Ohio State will open Saturday's game as over 30-point favorites. The game opened at a -26.5 point spread, but the public moved it heavily in Ohio State's favor.
Day made it known earlier this week that he understands that this team has yet to reach its final form. Outside of the lack of run game, the Buckeyes' pace has been a hot button topic. The highly-touted head coach addressed the concerns this week and made the comment that right now, this team is chasing efficiency. He then commented, saying that when the time is right, they can hit the gas.
If he is telling the truth and Ohio State has another level to get to, good luck to the rest of college football in 2026, because this year's title is for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
