Let's go behind the scenes for one of the quickest recruitments of a top recruit, likely ever.
The Ohio State Buckeyes received the game-changing news of the year on Wednesday afternoon. Completely out of the blue, the No. 1 recruit in the 2028 recruiting class, Jett Harrison, committed to the Buckeyes.
Harrison is the top prospect in a class of rising high school juniors. As it stands right now, Harrison is 6'1" tall, just a touch over 180 pounds, but has all of the tools to be the next great wide receiver.
If the name looks familiar, it is because it is. Jett is the younger brother of Marvin Harrison Jr., who is one of the greatest Buckeye wide receivers of all time. While Marvin Jr. was still at Ohio State, he was quoted as saying that Jett was "definitely more talented than (Marvin) ever was at that age."
That is quite the high bar and that evaluation is coming from a very trusted source.
Now, the real surprise here is that the commitment for Jett came very quickly.
It's honestly pretty bad business on his part, being that if he had even waited a year, you never know how much more money he could have possibly made. However, that goes to show you what that family's priority is.
It is all about football, and for Jett, he allegedly didn't want any part of the recruiting process.
Steve Wiltfong, the vice president of On3's Recruiting and Transfer Portal, put a comment on an On3 message board saying, "Jett Harrison committed early because he wanted no part of a recruiting process... Done deal."
Again, that shows exactly where this kid's priorities lie. He is just all about the ball and nothing else, and because of that, he knows what he is going to get at Ohio State and knows what Ryan Day is going to do for him.
Harrison is next in line to be yet another top wide receiver in Columbus. This program has gone from his big brother to Emeka Egbuka, to Jeremiah Smith, to Chris Henry Jr., and the baton will be passed to Jett.
It's a pretty incredible run for the Buckeyes that is a result of what they have produced at the college level and what that has equated to at the NFL level.
