The Ohio State Buckeyes have made it to the halfway point in the season with a perfect record, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have officially reached their second bye week of the season, and they are feeling good about their situation.

Sitting at 7-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country, the Ohio State Buckeyes could not have drawn up a better start to the year.

The Buckeyes survived another crazy week in college football last weekend. Vanderbilt was the headliner with its massive win over the LSU Tigers on the back of quarterback Diego Pavia. It would have been Week 8's most entertaining game if it weren't for the two other title fights in the SEC.

Georgia's win over Ole Miss was an instant classic, while Alabama and Tennessee fought till the end before the Tide pulled away.

Each of those games was an appetizer to Notre Dame's back-and-forth victory over the USC Trojans. Some teams extended their seasons while several others saw their hopes of a College Football Playoff appearance dashed right before their eyes.

All of that took place while the Buckeyes manhandled the Wisconsin Badgers, a 34-0 win in Madison felt like it was so much worse than the score indicated.

Through three-and-a-half quarters, the Buckeyes hadn't given up over 100 yards on the entire day. They suffocated Wisconsin, but they added a couple of turnovers to the mix this week.

On offense, Julian Sayin may have had his Heisman moment.

Ohio State: Buckeyes Roll Into the Bye Week Feeling Good | Julian Sayin In Heisman Race Ohio State: Buckeyes Roll Into the Bye Week Feeling Good | Julian Sayin In Heisman Race The Ohio State Buckeyes roll into the Bye Week feeling good about where they are at on te year. They are theNumber 1 team in the country with a flawless 7-0 ...

He finished the day 36 of 42 for 393 yards and four touchdowns. The first TD was a goal-post ball to Carnell Tate on 3rd-and-11. Tate rose up and made the catch of the weekend over two Wisconsin defenders, all without a helmet.

The receiving core was special on Saturday. Tate made the big, splash plays while Jeremiah Smith had a very quiet 96-yard day. Tight end Max Klare even got into the mix with five catches himself.

The only question mark on Saturday was again the ground game. The running back room finished with just 98 yards on 28 carries; that's about three-and-a-half yards per touch, which is simply not good enough for the Buckeyes.

Looking ahead, Ohio State will welcome the Penn State Nittany Lions for the main event in Week 10. This game was supposed to be a heavyweight fight, but Penn State's situation changed significantly.

After a three-game losing streak, Penn State decided to fire its head coach James Franklin. Franklin was let go with the season out of hand, following back-to-back losses to UCLA and Northwestern. The same day as the Northwestern loss, quarterback Drew Allar broke his leg; he is done for the year.

What once looked like it could be a great game between the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions has turned into a head scratcher at best.

If that isn't a good promotion for FOX's Big Noon Kickoff, then I don't know what is! (Yes, FOX will be back in Columbus for their Big Noon Kickoff for this matchup.)

The Buckeyes are rolling through the competition, and now they'll continue to improve their health and prepare for the third quarter of this season.
