The Ohio State Buckeyes head into week two of Training Camp with a lot of questions to answer three weeks until Week One.
The Ohio State Buckeyes head into the second full week of Training Camp with a couple of critical questions that still need to be answered.
The first full week of camp was very good, as the Buckeyes got off to a good start and discovered a couple of diamonds in the rough. Isaiah West has stepped up his game, and Jay Timmons has come out of nowhere to solidify himself as a guy that the Buckeyes might be relying heavily on.
Week two has some very clear objectives: set the offensive line and establish receivers two through five.
Certainly, things will change as camp continues, but ending the battles and establishing a lineup is the first step toward building chemistry on both sides of the football.
On the offensive line, three of the five positions are established, and four of the five players are set. The right guard or left tackle positions are the final two to be decided. Whoever wins those battles will then have to convince Ryan Day that they are good enough to put Austin Siereveld at the other offensive line position.
Setting the offensive line will be critically important for the Buckeyes as they were the reason the season came apart at the end of the year, and they would be the reason if the Buckeyes make a run to the Playoffs next year.
The wide receiver position is the next major question mark. UTSA transfer Devin McCuin has been the first guy to make a move in the room. He has separated himself and is showing that he could be a good complement to Jeremiah Smith.
Wide receivers three, four, and five, and the next to find. Who from the group of Brandon Inniss, Kyle Parker, Chris Henry Jr., and Brock Boyd? Establishing the hierarchy is critical because this offense can't just be the Jeremiah Smith show.
Other news that needed to be discussed was Michigan's approach to The Game. Two clips surfaced in the last week of the Buckeyes' rivalry, saying that The Game doesn't need to be like a traditional rivalry.
Quarterback Bruce Underwood said that they are going to treat it as "just a game," and head coach Kyle Wittingham said that the rivalry doesn't need to have "hate" in it.
Interesting comments from those guys.
All of these topics and more are discussed in this week's episode. Make sure you tune in and enjoy.
