Ohio State continues to get major respect in next year's college football video game, College Football 27.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are regarded as one of the top teams in America for next year's college football season and rightfully so.
As a result, they have been absolutely rewarded in the production of EA's College Football 27. It's not only Jeremiah Smith who received the first-ever 99 overall rating before the season even began. It is much more than just that.
Quarterback Julian Sayin received a rating of 94 overall, which makes him the second-rated quarterback in the game, trailing just Dante Moore. This one is significant because at this point last year, Sayin was set to prove himself.
He showed all year long against inferior competition that he can make all of the throws. Against the best teams on the Ohio State schedule, it wasn't the same for Sayin as he struggled against Texas, Indiana, and Miami. Two of which were losses.
The belief around Ohio State is that he will take that next step; he certainly is set up for that.
The Buckeyes as a team are the No. 2-ranked team in the entire game with a 90 overall rating. Oregon has the top spot with a 91 overall rating, while Indiana, Notre Dame, Texas, Miami, and LSU take up the descending positions behind the Buckeyes.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Buckeyes are again at the top of the charts, thanks in large part to Smith's 99 overall rating.
Ohio State's offensive group is ranked No. 1 in the country with a 92 overall rating. It's a veteran-laden group on the offensive line with a passer who is one of the best and a receiver who is the best. In the backfield, the Buckeyes are going to have to prove it, and if they do, they can make a large improvement there.
Ohio State's defensive unit checks in at No. 7 overall in the country with an 89 overall rating. This is probably right because outside of Kenyatta Jackson up front, the Buckeyes do have a lot of question marks on that side of the ball.
There are going to be several great players on that side of the ball, but we just don't know who they are quite yet. However, anytime you lose five starters on that side of the ball, three of which were Top-11 picks in the NFL Draft, there will be an obvious drop off in production.
The Buckeyes received their flowers and more in EA's College Football 27, and for good reason. It's almost time to pass the sticks to the Buckeyes.
