The Ohio State Buckeyes officially have risen to the No. 2 team in the country after a chaotic Saturday in College Football.
Saturday across the country was yet again another chaotic day of football in the college landscape.
The day was set up to be an "apple-picking" Saturday where the matchups were not the best and the intrigue for the week was in question. As Lee Corso always said, " Not so fast, my friend.
There were upsets galore: the number two team in the country fell for the second week in a row, Tennessee blew a road lead to South Carolina in dramatic fashion, Miami killed Pitt to stay in first, and Indiana escaped a pillow fight against Michigan.
The fallout was drastic, and with it, the Ohio State Buckeyes are officially back up to the No. 2 ranking in the country.
Texas did the Buckeyes a lot of favors in the primetime as they fought off a furious fourth-quarter comeback by the Ole Miss Rebels to stay alive in the National picture. More importantly, it keeps Ohio State's loss to them looking okay as they continue to prove that they are a good football. team.
After the dust settled, the Buckeyes were able to officially climb one full spot in the rankings even on their bye week to climb up to the No. 2 spot in the country.
Ever since the meltdown in Austin against the Longhorns, the Buckeyes have more than taken care of their business to stay in the fight.
Huge wins over Illinois and Iowa set up a marquee matchup against Indiana that they escaped by inches, literally.
Looking ahead to Ohio State, their journey just got even more challenging. They now head into the second half of the season, with the backup quarterback facing five tough games to finish the year.
It begins with a trip to Los Angeles, a home game against Oregon, a home game against Northwestern, a trip to Nebraska, and then The Game back at home. Five really tough games left on the schedule, all with the backup quarterback(s) at the helm.
They can't win them all in the next game. All that they can do is win the first one and move it along.
After losing to Texas, there were plenty of questions about this Buckeyes football team. They have been able to answer most of them, and they will continue to do so as the year continues. They will do it from the No. 2 position, with the opportunity to continue to climb higher and higher.
