Kesean Bowman, a 2027 recruit from Brentwood, Tennessee, was originally committed to Oregon, but decommitted on September 19 after an unofficial visit to Tennessee. Conveniently enough, Bowman made another unofficial visit to Knoxville the day after his decommitment.
It’s believed to be that the Volunteers could be the favorite to land the receiver, especially after two visits in two weeks.
But there are other programs in the mix, with USC making an offer to him the day of his decommitment.
But another potential opportunity for Bowman is Ohio State. Chad Simmons of Rivals indicated that the Buckeyes are firmly in the mix. Bowman was actually in Columbus during Week 1’s battle against Texas, where the Buckeyes came out on top 14-7.
For a program that has produced several elite receivers, nabbing a guy like Bowman will only add to the already supreme resume for Ohio State.
The 2027 season would likely be Ohio State’s first season without Smith, since he’ll be eligible for the NFL Draft.
And if he comes in, he’ll be in an already talented recruiting class led by four-star dynamos in Jamier Brown and Brady Edmunds.
Speaking of Edmunds, he recently reached out to Bowman on X and made a recruiting pitch to him. Bowman replied with a pair of eye emojis, which usually indicates that it’s something that he’s been thinking about.
He’ll fit in just fine in Columbus should he decide to make it his home. He’s one of the fastest receivers in the class who posted eight touchdowns as well as 56 catches for 1,023 yards.
Gabe Brooks, who is 247Sports’ Scouting Analyst broke down his game and suggests that his speed could separate himself as one of college football’s premier receivers.
"Wins with impressive acceleration and the ability to shift up and down deftly, particularly within 20 yards... Fast enough downfield with the testing data to support that... Strong two-way snaps at receiver and cornerback... Could legitimately play P4 ball at either spot… Above average route runner at this stage thanks to hip-sinking flexibility; fuels sudden breaks and top-of-route juice… Flashes body control and timing acumen to make contested catches... Projects to the high-major level as a potential multi-year impact player with a long-term ceiling beyond college."
There’s plenty of time for 2027 recruits, as we’ve seen many recruits back out of a commitment they’ve made years before it was time to enroll.
However, it’s certainly encouraging that Bowman finds the appeal in playing for the Brotherhood, and perhaps Ohio State’s resume can speak for itself.
