This one is a good one. Former Ohio State Buckeyes' wide receiver Mylan Graham had a bit of a culture shock when he arrived at Notre Dame.
On Wednesday, Graham, while sporting his new ND gear, was asked what the major difference is between his time in Columbus and his time in South Bend as a member of the Fighting Irish.
His response was an all-timer. Graham said,
“Not too different, You just have to actually go in person… at Notre Dame obviously everybody knows how it is with academics."
I tend to give the benefit of the doubt to these kids when clips like this surface because I do believe that he didn't mean anything by this comment. However, it is a hilarious comment.
Graham was a five star recruit and believed to be one of the next best Ohio State Buckeyes' wide receiver when he arrived on campus two years ago. Everyone remembers what former Buckeyes' quarterback Cardale Jones had to say:
"We didn't come here to play school."
He was a budding superstar in Columbus and I'm sure school wasn't the biggest obstacle for the young Graham.
Now that his career didn't work out in Scarlet and Gray, his new home is a little bit different. At Notre Dame, you do go there to play school and that is a major part of it. It's not to say one is right or one is wrong but it is just the reality.
Not only has Graham's workload increased but his opportunity to revive his career has reset. The outlook for him at Ohio State was a bleak one. The Buckeyes were clearly set on getting older as a roster that is much more cost effective and to do that, they Graham was on the chopping block.
The Buckeyes will put a lot of their trust in Jeremiah Smith and then fill in behind him with veteran players who are on a discount.
Graham along with fellow former Buckeye Quincy Porter Jr. will be wide receivers one and two for the Irish. That just wasn't going to be the case at Ohio State so he gets a fresh start and the Buckeyes get older at the position.
It is a rare win-win for both the player and the program, except that Graham actually has to go to class now.
