Former Ohio State star wide receiver Carnell Tate finally broke through for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday for his biggest game yet.
It's been a really tough start to the NFL career for former Ohio State star wide receiver Carnell Tate. Just last week, he was quoted as saying how hard this season has already been for him.
He wasn't having any individual success, and the Titans themselves are one of, if not the, worst teams in the NFL. That's a very far cry from what he experienced at Ohio State, as he was a star on one of the best programs of all time.
It's all a part of it, and it is the blessing and curse of being the top receiver in the draft. Sure, he got drafted to a tough environment, but it was because he was one of the best players in the country.
It took him a month and a half, but Tate finally had a breakthrough game in the Titans' first win against the Indianapolis Colts.
Tate finished the game with six catches for 70 yards and his first NFL touchdown. More importantly, he looked like himself for the second time this season. His touchdown catch was typical Tate, as he routed up his defender and toe-tapped in the corner of the end zone. It was special stuff from Tate.
The best part about the entire thing was that, again, in typical Tate fashion, there was no crazy celebration; there was a point to his mother in the sky and then a slew of hugs from his teammates, including an extended one from his quarterback, Cam Ward.
Just a really cool moment for the budding star as he continues to try to find his way in the NFL.
It was just a couple of weeks ago that he went 9 catches for 145 yards against the Baltimore Ravens, and we all thought he had arrived. That game was followed by a one-catch, six-yard game against the Houston Texans.
That's the game in the NFL: constant adjustments, constant changeups, constant improvements, because week after week after week it's a competition against the best players in the entire world.
As it stands right now, according to Kalshi, Tate has the second-best odds to win the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. He trails the Cleveland Browns' Denzel Boston, who has the best odds at this point.
Tate is going to continue to settle into being an NFL player, and as he does, it will become incredibly obvious that he has the potential to be one of the great wide receivers in all of the NFL.
