College Basketball used a little bit of common sense that hopefully, College Football can mimic.

Two things can be true at once. The ability to transfer without penalty and get paid in college football is a good thing, while the way that the portal is set up at the moment is horrible.

As it stands right now, while the eight best teams in America are competing for the right to play in a National Championship game and advance in the Playoffs. The transfer portal window opens up, and teams are forced to have to set their roster.

Oh, and by the way, the window is only open for two weeks, so teams can't wait to make their move. They have to act swiftly to secure the best players as they find their new home or, more impactfully, reset their roster to take over a College Football program.

It's pure chaos, but hopefully, College Football can take a page out of College Basketball's book and begin to adjust its schedule.

On Wednesday night, it was announced that College Basketball adjusted its schedule, effective immediately.

They officially announced that their 15-day transfer portal window opens the day after the National Championship Game and stays open for the next 15 days after that. This is a change from its opening during March Madness. Which is madness in itself.

The only hope now is that College Football follows suit and does it quickly.

The people who get punished in all of this are simply the players. Those who are on teams that are competing in meaningful postseason games have to make a decision whether or not they continue to play for their team or start finding their new home.

The other side of it is when a coach is hired at a new school, they have to ditch their current program to begin flipping their new program around.

A change in the transfer portal schedule would go a long way to start adjusting the College Football schedule, which doesn't aid in the crazy transfer portal. Once the calendar is changed, College Football will get significantly better right away.

Until then, everyone from fans to coaches to players have to experience the wild west.
