NFL Execs Wondering About Ohio State Alum Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Availability

Former Ohio State Buckeyes star Marvin Harrison Jr. hasn't seen his college success translate to the NFL level thus far. Because of that and his early struggles in the 2026 season, NFL executives are wondering whether the Arizona Cardinals will make Harrison available ahead of the trade deadline, per ESPN's Dan Graziano.

In the first two weeks of the season, Harrison has just one catch for 33 yards. When the Cardinals drafted him with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they expected him to develop into an elite wide receiver, but he hasn't performed consistently.

His best season came in his rookie campaign in 2024, as he had 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns across 17 games. In the 2025 season, he appeared in 12 games and had 41 receptions for 608 yards and four touchdowns. With his 2026 season off to an even worse start, Harrison's outlook doesn't look promising.

It appears Harrison could use a change of scenery to get the most out of his NFL career. He had a stellar career at Ohio State, establishing himself as one of the best wide receiver prospects in recent memory.

In the 2022 season, he was an All-American, hauling in 77 receptions for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Harrison was an All-American once again in 2023 and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting, with 67 receptions for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns, while rushing for 26 yards and a touchdown on two carries.

He was a consistent weapon for the Buckeyes' offense, but hasn't played close to that level in his NFL career. 

The 24-year-old wideout is playing for a Cardinals team that is likely in a rebuild, despite winning its Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Arizona will look for him to turn things around quickly, but if he doesn't, they could move him at the trade deadline and use one of their draft picks to select a weapon in the 2027 NFL Draft, which is likely to feature many talented wideouts, including Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith.

The Buckeyes have consistently produced elite wide receivers who have gone on to have great careers in the NFL. Harrison was among the best of them during his time at Ohio State and has plenty of work to do to find that form again and become an impactful weapon as a pro.
