The Ohio State Buckeyes 2026 season is less than 100 days away, and it cannot get here soon enough.
As you are reading this article, Ohio State is 99 days away from taking on the Ball State Cardinals inside Ohio Stadium to begin the season. A season that has a lot of unknowns, a ton of potential, and frankly, it is a necessity that they get the program back on track.
Ohio State gets a nice handshake into the season before it gets very real very quickly. After taking on Ball State, they head to Austin, Texas, for a date with the Longhorns inside DKR.
That game, barring catastrophe, should be another version of a top-10 matchup between two of the nation's best teams. Texas has aspirations of being a National Champion, and the Buckeyes certainly have the belief that is necessary to climb back to the top of the mountain.
Then, after that, one more warm-up game against an in-state neighbor, the Kent State Flashes, before a very challenging Big Ten schedule. The top Big Ten opponents are Iowa, Illinois, Oregon, USC, Michigan, and Indiana. None of which can be taken lightly, and each of which could beat Ohio State on any given day.
Ohio State is going to have its work cut out for it as they work their way through October and November of next season. Unlike the past two years, when they have had the luxury of having an easier conference schedule, they will have to be on their A-Game every week.
That's just the first two parts of the season. Then, the postseason rolls around. Part of the Buckeyes' yearly goals are winning the Big Ten Championship, which they were unable to do last year.
Then, once all of that dust settles, they will be looking at either a three or four-game run to the National Championship against the nation's best.
It is going to be a long journey, and we are officially double-digit days away from getting it started.
Week one can't get here soon enough, and the Buckeyes will be off and running, chasing the get-back that they need after last year's disappointment.
