Ohio State Buckeyes Assert Their Dominance In More Than One Sport

If it felt like Ohio State was winning a bunch this year, it is because they were. Ohio State had the fourth-highest winning percentage in the entire Power 4 across the five major sports, both men's and women's.

These figures come from The Next Round platform, as they went on a quest to find the best school in the entire country.

The winner for the 2025-26 year is certainly a shocker.

The criteria here are looking at each school's conference performance across the five major sports: Football, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Baseball, and Softball.

The Duke Blue Devils check in as the number one team according to this criteria. They have a combined win percentage of .750, and then it is the Big Ten Central. UCLA checks in at No. 2, Michigan at No. 3, and then the Buckeyes are No. 4 with a .693 winning percentage.

Ohio State certainly doesn't want to be trailing the school that they are, but it's still an impressive mark. It is weighted in large part due to another great football season, but the real work was done on the hardwood and on the diamond.

The Buckeyes men's basketball team had a return to glory in 2025-26 that landed them in the NCAA Tournament for the first time under head coach Job Diebler. On the women's side, the Buckeyes were dominant.

They finished the year with a 27-8 record and landed themselves a No. 3 seed in the Women's NCAA Tournament. Their year was cut short at the hands of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

On the diamonds, the Buckeyes baseball team has also turned its program around fairly significantly. They were 13-37 last year, and this year they are 29-23 with a No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, needing a great tournament run to make the Big Dance.

For the Buckeyes Softball team, they hovered right around .500. They finished the year 26-27 and lost to Michigan to end their season in the Big Ten Tournament.

It has been a really fun year in Columbus for all sports. Nearly every program turned in the right direction this year, and there is no reason to believe any of the programs will slow down anytime soon.

Ohio State is among the best in the entire country at beating up on its Big Ten opponents.
