Former Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate calls his shot for who he wants to be his quarterback next year.

With the 2025 college football season coming to a close, Ohio State Buckeyes' fans will now get to see their favorite star find a new home in the NFL this offseason.

Former Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate calls his shot for who he wants to be his quarterback in 2026 in the NFL.

"I want to go somewhere that (targets) me. That's all I can ask for, the JSN targets he just got, the Puka Nacua targets. Where I go (doesn't) really matter, it's about the ball. I'd love to go play with Josh Allen. He will get you the ball; he's experienced.

Well, Tate sure knows what pays the bills in the NFL, and that's getting the football. Playing with Josh Allen would be a dream come true for any wide receiver entering the NFL or even in free agency.

Now, the reality of this is probably unlikely, that is, unless the Bills make a crazy move to go up and get Tate, which I believe is unlikely.

The blessing and the curse of playing for the Buckeyes, especially in this last decade, is that he isn't going to fall very far in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Tate missed three games this season and still put up gaudy numbers for Ohio State. He finished with 51 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in just 11 games. There were several times this year that many people were asking the question if Tate was on the same level as star wideout Jeremiah Smith.

The injury cooled that conversation, but the fact that many people were still having it tells the entire story. He was playing at an elite level, and unfortunately for him, he isn't going to be on the draft board long enough to land with Allen.

I don't see a world where Tate drops further than pick No. 8 to the New Orleans Saints. I believe that is the floor for him, while his ceiling is No. 2 to New York. The likely scenario, in my opinion, is either No. 4 to Tennessee or No. 6 to Cleveland.

Both of those teams need offense and need it quickly, and he could, on day one, be the No. 1 receiver for either of those franchises.

The ideal situation for Tate would be something similar to what Emeka Egbuka fell into last season. When Egbuka was selected by Tampa Bay, he got the opportunity to "hide" behind Mike Evans for the first couple of weeks before he was injured.

Egbuka thrived while all of the attention was on Evans, and when it turned to him, he was ready to roll for Baker Mayfield and the Bucs.

In a dream world, that would happen to Carnell Tate, and that spot would likely be for either the New York Giants at No. 5 or the Saints at No. 8, where he could be behind Malik Nabers or Chris Olave, respectively.

That's in the perfect world; the realistic world will have Carnell Tate as a No. 1 option somewhere next year. Dream on, Carnell. It would be sweet if you got to play with Allen, but I don't see it happening.
