The Ohio State Buckeyes must go back to the drawing board after losing to the Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl, and there are definitely some areas they must attack in the transfer portal.
Perhaps one of the most important positions of note will be defensive tackle, where Ohio State will be losing breakout star Kayden McDonald to the NFL Draft.
Ryan Day has been brilliant in the transfer portal in the past, so Buckeyes fans should certainly feel comfortable knowing that he is on the job this winter.
And guess what? Ohio State already appears to be zeroing in on a potential target to man the middle, as the Buckeyes have landed a visit with former UCF defensive tackle Horace Lockett, via Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
What makes Lockett interesting? Well, he is a mountain of a man at 6-foot-6, 355 pounds and would definitely serve as a tremendous space eater for Ohio State.
Lockett played in just four games at UCF this past year due to a season-ending pectoral injury. During his brief time on the field, he was impressive, logging 13 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and a couple of passes defended.

The upcoming fifth-year senior began his collegiate career at Georgia Tech in 2022 and had his best year with the Yellow Jackets in 2023 when he registered 25 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Lockett decided to transfer to UCF last December.
The Atlanta product is a three-star transfer and is the 33rd-ranked defensive lineman in the transfer portal, via 247 Sports. But that seems awfully low given his sheer size and clear ability to stuff up the middle.
Of course, we haven't gotten to see a whole lot of Lockett just yet, but he appeared to be on pace for one heck of a season in 2025 before the injury struck.
The Buckeyes have had some difficulty landing top-tier defensive linemen on the recruiting trail recently, so Lockett could comprise an easy target for Day and Co. in the portal.
Ohio State went 12-0 during the regular season, but ended its campaign with two straight losses after falling to Indiana in the Big Ten championship game and then Miami in the College Football Playoff.
