Ohio State's super freshman class, those of who are enrolled, took the field for the first time on Tuesday as Buckeyes.
While all the hype surrounding these classes is always high, this year's feels particularly high because of the star-studded talent that was acquired.
The tenor around freshman has changed drastically from pervious years. Traditionally, freshmen were the most coveted players on a team because they signaled the team's foundation going into the future.
Now, in today's game, they are actually a negative asset because they cost a ton, and their dividends don't typically pay off right away.
That might not be the case for Ohio State's super freshman this year.
Wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. is the No. 1 wide receiver in the entire class, and he is going to be charged with taking over from where Jeremiah Smith leaves off next year.
Henry Jr. stands at 6'5, and if he is anything like his late father, he will have all of the goods to be one of the next great wide receivers in college football. He was a healthy investment for the Buckeyes to get him to Columbus, and Ohio State will treat him as such.
Expect Henry Jr. to be an integral part of the Buckeyes offensive attack this year. Very similar to how they handled Smith three years ago.
In the backfield, the most curious new addition is running back Legend Bey.
Buckeyes' head coach Ryan Day compared Bey to Tyreek Hill with the football in his hands.
He came to Ohio State listed as an athlete, and it appears that Ohio State will start him in the backfield to get his feet wet. Bey had the most fascinating recruiting journey, as allegedly, his mother forced him to commit to Tennessee when he wanted to be a Buckeye all along.
Once he turned 18, he made the change to his commitment and committed to being a Buckeye.
Those two lead the way as the top players in the entire freshman class. As Spring Ball continues, we will get the ability to see more of these guys take action on the field and figure out where and how they will fit into the Buckeyes' plans.
