Ohio State Star Opens Up About Playing for his Hometown Team at 2026 NFL Combine cover image

Former Ohio State Buckeye star Arvell Reese talks about the potential to play for his hometown team, the Cleveland Browns.

Ohio State star Arvell Reese had one of the best seasons in all of college football in 2025.

He came into the season as a major question mark and left it as a likely top-5 pick. He made himself a ton of money this year by showing a very natural instinct to get to the quarterback and tackle with great efficiency in the open field.

While Reese is going to cash a major paycheck in just a few short months, one team is going to be incredibly lucky to have him on their defensive line. While he is likely to be one of the choices in the top-5 and maybe even pick No. 2, there is one team that might be waiting in the wings.

That team would be the Cleveland Browns, who have the sixth overall pick.

That is significant because the Browns play just about 15 minutes from where Reese grew up and established himself as a legitimate football player in the country.

Reese is a product of Glenville High School, affectionately known as Ginn Academy. The legend of Ohio High School Football, Ted Ginn Sr., is, and has been, the head coach for the Tar Blooders for 29 seasons. He has coached countless high division one talents and NFL players.

Reese will be the next one in that storied list.

The talented playmaker revealed on Wednesday that he met with the Browns as a part of his pre-draft interview process, which is a fascinating move for Cleveland, which is likely not in the market for defense.

While the fit might not make sense, a young kid can dream. Here is what Reese had to say about the opportunity to play for his hometown team:

"That would mean a lot because I'm from Cleveland. That would be crazy but, it would just be a blessing to go anywhere, honestly."

Wherever Reese ends up, he is the type of player who could make an impact in Week One. I envision Reese carving out a role for himself with his hand in the dirt, rushing the quarterback.

While he is listed as a linebacker, Reese is so natural at causing havoc in the backfield. If he has any negatives to his game, it would be coming from the second level and having to guard receivers in space.

Reese is going to make an NFL franchise and fanbase very happy in just a few short months. Maybe, just maybe, that franchise will be the one he grew up rooting for.
