Ohio State Targeting Shocking Transfer Portal Weapon to Fill Glaring Hole cover image

The Ohio State Buckeyes are targeting this surprising transfer portal weapon to fill a glaring hole in their roster.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are finally addressing the offensive side of the football in this first transfer portal window.

First, they got the news on Tuesday that they would be retaining guard Luke Montgomery on their offensive line, and then the news broke that they are targeting former Kennesaw State wide receiver Christian Moss.

Moss stands at 6-foot-3 and registered 45 catches for 689 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Owls last season.

The underrated pass catcher's career started at Virginia Tech, where he spent just one season. He hardly worked his way onto the field as he finished with just six catches for 71 yards in his time as a Hokie. Moss left the Virginia Tech program after the 2023 spring ball and basically sat out the whole year.

He didn't hit the portal until November of that year, and when he did, he landed with Kennesaw State before the 2024 season.

His first year was a slow start, just 14 catches for 203 yards and two touchdowns.

After his strong 2025 season, he is testing the Portal waters one last time, and Ohio State is one of the teams that is interested in him.

He is garnering interest from Kansas, Ohio State, Stanford, and Washington, along with others, according to On3's Pete Nakos.

This would be a major addition for the Ohio State roster as their wide receiver room has been gutted this portal season. Pretty much all of the young core of the Buckeyes' wide receiver room hit the portal, leaving the room with just Jeremiah Smith and Brandon Inniss returning.

They added Devin McCuin, a three-star wide receiver from UTSA, for additional depth, but Moss could be a guy who can be a great complement to Smith and Inniss.

The Buckeyes clearly lacked toughness and physicality on the offensive side of the ball in 2025 against real competition. A lot of that was in the trenches, and their wide receivers were, as usual, at the top of the sport.

With the departures of Carnell Tate (draft), Bryson Rogers (Transfer), Quincy Porter (Transfer), and Mylan Graham (Transfer), the Buckeyes needed to make an addition in that room. You simply couldn't go into a season with just two players who have caught passes in a college game; that would have been unacceptable.

They missed out on all of the top wide receiver targets and will have to settle for a couple of three-star additions.

Something is everything at this point, and the Buckeyes at least have an option as the first Transfer Portal window winds down.
